Antiquing        One of the features Saugerties is known for is the many 
                       and unique antique stores. If you like antiquing the  
                       Village of Saugerties is a must see. Visit the Nationally
                       Registered Historic Business District and check out the 
                       stores on Partition and Main Streets. Feel like going for
                       a ride? The surrounding town of Saugerties also has
                       auction houses and antique stores.

Saugerties      In town at the bottom of Partition and West Bridge Sts. 
Village            Sandy beach, lifeguard, boat launch, fishing and picnic

Bristol             Located in the Saugerties hamlet of Malden. From the 
Beach             Village of Saugerties turn left onto RT. 9W. past 
State               Malden-on-Hudson and north of Route 34, make a rt. onto 
Park                Emerick Rd. follow to the end. Swim, picnic, fish, on 
                       the Hudson River.

Horseback      The Catskills have some great trails to explore by
Riding             horseback. Check out Bailiwick Ranch they are the
                       oldest and largest established stable in the Catskills.
                       They offer trail rides and lessons. They also have pony

Golf                 All of the golf clubs mentioned in this section are open

Catskill Golf Club is an 18 hole, par-72 golf course in 
                       Catskill NY. Conveniently located just a few minutes
                       from the New York State Thurway at Exit 21.

                       Dinsmore Golf Course in Staatsburg, NY is an 18
                       holecourse. The course offers a panoramic view
                       of the Hudson River and Catskill Mts. It is the third

                                     Nature Trails - Parks
    
Esopus Bend   This is a 156 acre preserve in the town of Saugerties. 
Nature             Bird watch, be entertained by the abundant species of
Preserve          flora and fauna. Hike the many trails. It was through the 
                        tireless efforts of the Esopus Creek Conservancy that
                        this very unique nature preserve was created and saved
                        from future development.

Mansion           A great day trip for rain or shine and any season
Tours               throughtout the year is a tour of the historic
The Great          mansions along the Hudson River. Some of these

Opus 40           Situated in the town of Saugerties west of the village. 
                       Take Rt. 212 west, make a left onto Fishcreek Rd. Make
                       a right onto Highwoods Rd. go.1/2 mile and make right
                       onto Fite Rd. follow to end 2/10 of a mile to the entrance
                       of Opus 40. This is a 6.5 acre bluestone sculpture built by
                       one man, Harvey Fite over a period of 37 years. When 
                       you are at Opus 40 you are very likely to experience a
                       sense of awe. Mountain Vista Lodging is located walking
                       distance to Opus 40. It's a real treat to be so close to this
                       one of a kind sculptural treasure land.

Saugerties       Take Lighthouse Drive located in the village of 
Lighthouse       Saugerties to the end. Park in parking lot and explore
                        a magical, easy 1/4 mile walk along the Hudson River
                        to the fully restored Saugerties Lighthouse. Take a dip
                        in the Hudson River accessible from the sandy beach.
                        (no lifeguard) Visit their website for tide table and public
                        tour times for the interior of the lighthouse & museum.
                        This is a must see experience. Please visit if you are in
                        our village.

Seamon Park   Located in the village of Saugerties, Rt. 9W Malden Ave.
                        Seamon Park is a wonderfully landscaped park open to
                        the public all year round. Featuring a playground, picnic
                        tables, grills and gazebo. Spetacular views of the
                        Catskill Mountains. Setting for our annual Mum Festival
                        every fall.
                                                                        
Tina Chovas    Located in the village of Saugerties. Offer Hudson River
Park                access. Picnic, fish. It is the setting for the Annual Esopus
                       Creek Festival.

Cantine            Located in the village at the western end of Washington
Field                Ave. 20+ ball fields plus a full sized ball fields with

Small World    Located in the village at the western end of Washington
Playground      Avenue. A great safe free fun place for children. This 
                        fenced in timber village provides hours of fun and 
                        imaginative play. This playground was entirely built by
                        volunteers and that wonderful Saugerties down home

Saugerties      Saturdays 9-2 June 23-Oct.? Village. In addition to the
Farmers'         weekly events, food demonstrations music etc., the 
Market            Saugerties Farmer's Market has a wide variety of foods.
                       Organic & non organic vegetables, fruits and berries, 
                       fresh baked bread & biscotti from our local village
                       biscotti factory. Local eggs, honey, jams and sauces,
                       pasture raised poultry and meat. Exotic mushrooms 
                       compliment the regional  wines and flowers. The above

HITS                Located in the village at the western end of Washington
Horse              Ave. HITS is a  world-cl
ass horse show facility open to the
Shows            public. HITS is the premier originator of Hunter/Jumper  
In The             horse shows in
 the country. From May throught 
Sun                 September for a total of 8 weeks of competitions  each
                       year, Horse Shows In The Sun hosts a number of the

Orpheum        
Built  in 1890, the Orpheum Theater on Main St.
in the
Movie             village was, originally a stage for vaudeville acts. In the
Theater          past it was also used for basketball and roller-skating. 
                      Around the 1930's the theater began to show movies and
                      it still does to this day. Recently the Orpheum was 
                      converted into a triplex, but unlike most conversions 
                      that destroy the character and architectural details of
                      the original structure the theater has fortunately 
                      maintained them. It still has it's art deco neon
                      lighting exterior.                         
                       
                      Special Events - Festivals - Parades

July 4th.        The parade and fireworks are annual events.
They
Parade          always take place on July 4, no matter what day of
Fireworks      the week the fourth falls on. The
best way to describe
                     this parade and the fireworks display in the evening at 
                     Cantine Field is to say, it feels like you were magically
                     dropped  inside of a Norman Rockwell painting and 
                     suddenly you had the uncontrollable urge to wave the
                     flag, eat cotton candy, fried dough and sing campfire 
                     songs. Don't miss this event, if you really want to know
                     Saugerties and it's inhabitants.

Sawyer         Free and open to the public. July 8, 2007. Main and
Motors          Partition St. in the Village of Saugerties. Over 400 of
Car               the finest classic 
& antique cars will be on display. The
Show            streets are closed to traffic and great doo-wap music
                     and other styles can be heard and danced to, on one of 
                     the four different stages. Restaurants and shops  
                     throughtout the village remain open. This is always a
                     fun day of events & prizes.
                                   
Woodstock    The Woodstock Film Festival is an educational
Film              not-for-profit, organization, whose mission is to

                     of film, music, and art-related activities that promote
                     artists, culture, inspired learning and diversity. The
                     
Hudson Valley Film Commission (formerly the 
                     Woodstock Film Commission) promotes sustainable
                     economic development by attracting & supporting 
                     film, video and media production in the Hudson Valley

Saugerties    Saugerties Art Tour  August 11 and 12. This is a self-
Artists            guided tour and it is free. Visit artists in their individual
Studio           studios. The artists and craftspersons on the tour
Tour              represent a wide range of styles and techniques. 
                     Every summer we look  forward to taking the Saugerties
                     Artists StudioTour and we are never disappointed.

Between      The Between the Tides Festival is on August 19, from 
The Tides     2:00 PM-7:PM at the Saugerties Lighthouse along
Festival        the Hudson River. This event is an all ages event. Great
                    live music, delicious food and drinks. Proceeds from this
                    event go to the preservation of the Saugerties
                    Lighthouse.

Woodstock  
The Woodstock Playhouse is a large indoor theatre for

                    film, festivals and educational programs. Check out their

Maverick      Imagine the experience of watching internationally
Concerts       know performers in the middle of the  woods. You can
                    at the 
Maverick Concert Hall, which was hand built in 
                    1916 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hudson       The Hudson Valley Garlic Festival, Cantine Field 
Valley         Saugerties NY Sept. 29 & 30, 2007 Garlic Ice Cream Yum?
Garlic          5 Stages of Music, Chef Demonstrations, Arts and Crafts
Festival       booths, Garlic Lectures and demonstrations, Children's Area
                   with Craft Tent etc. The Hudson Valley Garlic Festival was
                   the lead festival covered in USA Today's April 12, 2002
                   edition, featuring  the Top Ten Regional Food festivals in
                   the USA. The 2005 Festival had over 250 Booths and had in

Mum           The Mum Festival at Seamons Park, Village of Saugerties 
Festival       Oct 7, 2007. This annual Festival is a classic old fashioned
                   small town happening. Step back in time and stroll along 
                   the garden paths lined with thousands of chrysanthemums 
                   and seasonal plantings. The festival features a variety of
                   musical styles, chamber, country, and Sousa marches. 
                   There are fun educational demonstrations featuring live
                   animals. There is also an art show. Of course The Mum
                   Queen and her Court will be there distributing mum
                   corsages.
