If you like antiquing the Village of Saugerties is a must see. Visit the Nationally Registered Historic Business District and check out the stores on Partition and Main Streets. Feel like going for a ride? The surrounding town of Saugerties also has auction houses and antique stores. Make a right onto Highwoods Rd. go.1/2 mile and make right onto Fite Rd. follow to end 2/10 of a mile to the entrance of Opus 40. This is a 6.5 acre bluestone sculpture built by one man, Harvey Fite over a period of 37 years. When you are at Opus 40 you are very likely to experience a sense of awe. Park in parking lot and explore a magical, easy 1/4 mile walk along the Hudson River to the fully restored Saugerties Lighthouse. Take a dip in the Hudson River accessible from the sandy beach. A great safe free fun place for children. This fenced in timber village provides hours of fun and imaginative play. HITS Located in the village at the western end of Washington Horse Ave. HITS is a world-class horse show facility open to the Shows public. HITS is the premier originator of Hunter/Jumper In The horse shows in the country. From May throught Sun September for a total of 8 weeks of competitions each year, Horse Shows In The Sun hosts a number of the world's most important equestrian events. Check out their site for events & times HITS Orpheum Built in 1890, the Orpheum Theater on Main St. in the Movie village was, originally a stage for vaudeville acts. In the Theater past it was also used for basketball and roller-skating. Around the 1930's the theater began to show movies and it still does to this day. Recently the Orpheum was converted into a triplex, but unlike most conversions that destroy the character and architectural details of the original structure the theater has fortunately maintained them. It still has it's art deco neon lighting exterior. Special Events - Festivals - Parades
July 4th. The parade and fireworks are annual events. They Parade always take place on July 4, no matter what day of Fireworks the week the fourth falls on. The best way to describe this parade and the fireworks display in the evening at Cantine Field is to say, it feels like you were magically dropped inside of a Norman Rockwell painting and suddenly you had the uncontrollable urge to wave the flag, eat cotton candy, fried dough and sing campfire songs. Don't miss this event, if you really want to know Saugerties and it's inhabitants.
Sawyer Free and open to the public. July 8, 2007. Main and Motors Partition St. in the Village of Saugerties. Over 400 of Car the finest classic & antique cars will be on display. The Show streets are closed to traffic and great doo-wap music and other styles can be heard and danced to, on one of the four different stages. Restaurants and shops throughtout the village remain open. This is always a fun day of events & prizes. Between The Between the Tides Festival is on August 19, from The Tides 2:00 PM-7:PM at the Saugerties Lighthouse along Festival the Hudson River. This event is an all ages event. Great live music, delicious food and drinks. Proceeds from this event go to the preservation of the Saugerties Lighthouse.
Woodstock The Woodstock Playhouse is a large indoor theatre for Playhouse the presentation of all music events, theatre, dance, film, festivals and educational programs. Maverick Imagine the experience of watching internationally Concerts know performers in the middle of the woods. Hudson Valley Garlic FestivalMum The Mum Festival at Seamons Park, Village of Saugerties Festival Oct 7, 2007. This annual Festival is a classic old fashioned small town happening. Step back in time and stroll along the garden paths lined with thousands of chrysanthemums and seasonal plantings. The festival features a variety of musical styles, chamber, country, and Sousa marches. There are fun educational demonstrations featuring live animals. There is also an art show. Of course The Mum Queen and her Court will be there distributing mum corsages.
